WW2 AUSTRALIAN ISSUED FIGHTING KNIFE BY WHITTINGSLOWE
This fighting knife was issued by the Australian Army during WW2 for use by its Commando forces and Z force and also used by the US marines but they are stamped US to the cross guard.
The blade is stamped WE for Whittingslowe and is showing signs of field sharpening indicating that it has seen combat use. The Leather scabbard is maker marked and dated 1944 and also is broad arrow stamped, there is a slight tear to the throat of the scabbard where the knife goes in but tis does not detract and is part of its story of use.
We are well aware on how these fighting knives are getting harder to find.
