RARE WW1 RAF PILOTS UNIFORM GROUPING
Recently purchased from a log time WW1 RFC/RAF collector who was selling his collection is this WW1 RAF uniform grouping consisting of:
WW1 RAF 1918 Khaki Pattern Pilots Tunic. A rare example of the short lived khaki pattern uniform introduced on the creation of the RAF in April 1918. This tunic has the correct first pattern RAF buttons and is in good condition for its age. All buttons present. The correct pilots wings which need re-sewing to the tunic as shown in the images. I also found in the pocket the sleeve badges that need attaching. The last owner stated that when he got the tunic the buckle was missing which was a two pronged buckle which he had replace with a one prong buckle which was the only one he could find at the time;
Full length aviators coat. As we know RFC and RAF pilots privately purchased their flying coats and there are a lot of different varieties that pop up. This example is a full length coat made in soft chrome leather. It is internally double breasted and has the original London makers tag inside. Despite a few oil stains this coat is also in good condition for its age;
An excellent example of a WW1 pilots leather flying helmet. Again there are a few different variations of WW1 Pilots helmets. This example is also made in soft chrome leather and may have been originally purchased with the above flying coat. It is fur lined with a fur line peak that has a press stud to keep the peak up if desired. This helmet is also in excellent condition; and
An almost unused pair of pilots flying googles with the original makers name attached to the lens. Fur lined with perfect lenses.
This is an opportunity for the RFC/RAF collector to purchase a unique grouping at a reasonable price.
