WW2 JAPANESE OFFICERS NAVAL SWORD TYPE 97 'KAI-GUNTO"-SOLD MG EW1376

WW2 JAPANESE OFFICERS NAVAL SWORD TYPE 97 'KAI-GUNTO"

This is the first WW2 Japanese Navy Officers Sword in the last two years, they are much rarer than the Army Officers Sword due to the fact that the Japanese Navy Navy was decimated during WW2 and most of the officers swords are at the bottom of the sea. The sword blade is not the standard stainless steel blade but a traditional made blade which would have been owned by the original owner. The blade tang is signed Nagata Sukenori. who was born on the 28th August 1910. The scabbard is Black lacquered and has a couple of blemishes. The fittings still retain much of their original gilding. All the spacers and Tsuba have matching numbers stamped on them which shows quality. The blade has a wavy harmon and shows imperfections which is shown in the images, which is common for a WW2 used sword.

This sword is a great example of a Japanese Naval Officers sword which rarely appears on todays market.

    Please note

Most Japanese Officers swords located in Australia are WW2 veteran bring backs as the prices are higher when purchased overseas.
