WW2 JAPANESE NAVAL OFFICERS SAMURAI SWORD.
The Japanese Navy during WW2 produced their Officers swords in stainless steel due to the salt erosion that was being experienced on traditional sword blades as issued to the Army. The blades were made in the traditional manner however kept a good polish and a sharp edge.
The sword offered here is no exception. The blade is bright and in excellent condition holding an very sharp edge. The Tang has the naval issue stamp mark. Handle wrap is in excellent condition. All fittings are in gilt with most of the gilt still remaining. The scabbard is covered with lacquered shark skin and has a couple of edge knocks which do not detract from its appearance. This is a nice Naval sword.
