This is an in theatre made fighting knife made by a WW2 Australian soldier from the 2/12 Bn. it has AIF stamped to one side of the crossguard and 2/12 stamped to the other side. The scabbard is made from heavy leather and is stamped with MILNE BAY, BUNA, SANANANDA and 1942 which were battle that the 2/12 Bn took part in during the New Guinea campaign. Interesting trench art fighting knife.
