    COMPLETE RADIO SET AUSTRALIAN ARMY ISSUED AN/PRC 77 HISTORY

    The AN/PRC 77 Radio Set is a man-pack, portable VHF FM combat-net radio transceiver manufactured by "Associated Industries" and used to provide short-range, two-way radiotelephone voice communication. AN/PRC translates to "Army/Navy, Portable Radio, Communication. 

    Freq range: 30-75.95 MHz (920 Channels using 50kHz steps) 
    Range: up to 8km 
    Power Output: 1.5-2.0W 

    The AN/PRC 77 entered US service in 1968 during the Vietnam War as an upgrade to the earlier AN/PRC 25. Otherwise known as the "77" set it was issued to Australian troops in Vietnam and was used by the Australian Army into the early 1990's. The 77 set was also used in the M113 APC's, Landrovers, Headquarters and other vehicles and was mounted in amplifier/power trays making it one of the most versatile and hardy radios available at the time. Every soldier that served in Vietnam and after will have fond memories of the 77 set.

    ITEM DESCRIPTION

    This set is in working order and comes complete with the man portable back pack, Equipment bag (Golf Bag) which contains the whip antennae, extended range antennae, hand set and spring antennae extenders. The set comes complete with 2 batteries.
