ARTILLERY 25 POUNDER LOADING ROD
Purchased from an Australian Army veteran is this large solid wood baton with a brass sleeve to the shaft and a copper ring to the head with a turned handle.
Its purpose was to load a round into the breech of a 25 Pounder Artillery Gun. The previous owner used it as a Duty Guard Baton when patrolling the barracks at night in the days before Army hired private security firms to patrol barracks.
