    Defence, War, and ASM all correctly impressed. All stars un-named as issued to VX11842. A.H. LEWIS 2/31 BN. Comes with research which indicates the following:

    • Served in the Syrian Campaign of 1941 (WA,s Pte Jim Gordon of the 2/31 BN was awarded the Victoria Cross in this campaign). 24 KIA, 22 WIA (including the CO) during this campaign.
    • First Battalion to re-enter Kokoda they were on the advance phase of the Kokoda Track campaign Sep/Nov 1942.
    • The Markham and Ramu Valley campaigns of 1943.
    • By the end of 1943 only 55 men were fit for duty and they were onto the 7th Commanding Officer.
