WW1 BRITISH/AUSTRALIAN OFFICERS SAM BROWNE BELT AND HOLSTER
The Sam Browne officers belt usually was accompanied by a sword worn of a hanger attached to the belt. WW1 changed the use of a sword on the belt to a pistol holster as officers did not go over the top with a sword anymore.
This Same Brown belt dates from the WW1 era and has the cross strap and also the purpose made and issued holster for a Webley 455 to attach to the belt where the sword use to.
