WW2 ITALIAN MVSN BLACKSHIRTS FIGHTING KNIFE
HISTORY
The Italian MVSN dagger (associated with the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale, or Fascist "Blackshirts") is a mid-sized sidearm and ceremonial/combat blade used by Benito Mussolini's paramilitary regime.
- Role: While frequently worn as a high-visibility dress and parade dagger by Fascist militia officers and members, it was also carried into the field across the interwar colonial conflicts (such as the Second Italo-Ethiopian War) and throughout World War II theatres in North Africa, the Balkans, and the Italian Campaign.
- Legacy: Following the fall of the Fascist regime, the deposition of Mussolini in 1943, and the end of the war in 1945, many of these daggers were brought home by Allied service members (such as U.S. and Commonwealth troops) as war trophies.
