WW2 GERMAN K98 BAYONET WITH MATCHING NUMBERS AND PANZER ENGRAVED BLADE
These etched engraved bayonets are not factory issued. A number of GI's and German war veterans had them etched as a souvenier of their time in Germany or service in a particular German unit or division. They are highly collectable and command good prices when they turn up. I have purchased a small collection of three with this example being one of them. I have had them in the past over the years but this is the first time in many years that I have managed to acquire a few.
This example has the blade engraved to the 5th xx Panzer Division 'VIKING". The blade and the scabbard have matching numbers 7981 with date stamps to both of 1943.
K98 bayonets with matching numbers are hard to find on their own let alone with an etched bayonet.
