French Mousqueton model 1892 Bayonet reduced quillon reinforced socket model 1915
Nice used French Mousqueton model 1892 bayonet
which was used for the French Berthier rifle.
Overall a very nice bayonet in its original scabbard.
Great for a WW1 or bayonet collection!
Bayonet model 1892 type 2 for Berthier carabiner:
Type 2 bayonets are characterized by a reinforced socket (from April 1912).
Second (2nd) Type (Deuxième (2ème) Type), it was found that the bayonet was not secured on the front sight very tightly so in 1912 they modified the bayonet muzzle ring to extend 1/8 of an inch over the back of the grips to allow it to be better locked on the barrel and front sight. Both bakelite and wood grips were used with this variation.The Third (3rd) Type (Troisième (3ème) Type) is easily distinguishable by the removal of the first third of the quillion during the manufacturing process, not cut-off as has been rumored. It is not know when exactly this process was done, some sources say it was done in January 1915,

ITEM DESCRIPTION
This example is a barn find here in WA and is more than likely a veterans "bring back". It comes complete withits original leather frog. The blade is in excellent condition. I have not attempted to clean this bayonet however it would look even better if it was.
