VICTORIAN PERIOD DOGS HEAD SWORD CANE
Measuring approximately 900mm long this Victorian period Sword cane is a beauty, detailed Bronze Dogs Head to the top of the cane and ornate joining ring. Slender ebonised shaft. with metal tip. This sword cane has what is known as a rummage blade which is round with a sharpened spike, rummage blades were originally used by customs officers to check that no contraband was hidden in bails on the docklands, this use of the blade the expanded to commercial agencies then onto being used for protection. The blade measures 530mm. Sword canes are highly collectable in Europe and the USA fetching high prices for the older pieces that are ornate such as this example.
