VICTORIAN PERIOD 1854 PATTERN SWORD BY WILKINSON WITH FULL PROVENANCE

Whilst swords are common ones with full provenance are not and comes with full research both from records and family history and from Wilkinson sword that show that this sword numbered 26848 (numbered on spine of the sword) was sold by Wilkinson to W. S. Brooksbank Esq of the Prince of Wales Own Yorkshire Regiment (1st Regiment of Foot) as the Adjutant in 1881.

Records show that Regiment took part in the Battle of Ginnis (Sudan) in 1885. In 1891 Brooksbank died in Bangalore India of smallpox. A painting of Brooksbank was sold in the UK and a A4 Glossy copy of that painting comes with that research.

This sword is in good condition, clear Wilkinson markings and numbers. It does have the usual spotting to the blade which has etched engravings to both sides.
