US M7 BAYONET AUSTRALIAN ISSUE FOR THE M16

During the Vietnam war Australians used the M16 as well as the SLR. The M16 rifle was a favourite with the forward scouts whist on patrol. It is beleived that these bayonets were unmarked except for the  wording US M-7 on the cross guard. This was carried over when the M7 bayonet was issued to Australia again to fit the Steyr Rifle which is still currently in service with the exception of a Broad Arrow stamp on the scabbard.

This example of the M7 bayonet is unmarked with the exception of the US M-7 stamp to the cross guard. Scabbard is stamped US M8 A1.
