SCARCE 1876 PATTERN SWORD TO THE HONOURABLE ARTILLERY COMPANY
The Honourable Artillery Company is the oldest regiment in the British Army and was formed in 1537 during the reign of King Henry VIII. It is made up of volunteers and has served in all the major conflicts that has involved the British Army over a number of centuries.
ThisHonourable Artillery Company officer's sword. The blade with fine, detailed etching. The retailer's name of Simmons Brothers of Cockspur St London is clear. A few spots of pitting. The hilt complete and in overall good condition. The leather scabbard indicates it being from a line officer or sergeant's swordand showing signs of use as shown in the images.
These swords are not common and rarely come up on the market.
