RARE INERT WW2 ITALIAN BOOBY TRAP IK B IV
This WW2 Italian booby trap, known as IK B IV was used by Italian forces in the Western Desert, there is an example in the Australian War Memorial (AWM) collection. I t was exploded by pressure against a trip wire which released a lever of the mouse-trap type and allowed the plunger to strike the detonator cap. The charge was contained in the base of the mine and could be removed by unscrewing the plug in the bottom. Spikes on the side of the trap allowed the mine to be stuck on a tree, wall or behind a door. This example is in excellent condition and is the first time I have seen one. This booby trap is inert.
