PRE FEDERATION. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ARTILLERY MILITIA. 1822 PATTERN ARTILLERY OFFICERS SWORD BY WILKINSON DATED 1889.
South Australian Pattern 1822 Artillery Militia Officer’s sword, Wilkinson issue number 29800 on the spine which when researched dated this sword to 1889 year of manufacture. The frosted etching on the blade has Militia, SA and Artillery with floral decoration on one side and the Victorian Empress Crown and winged lightning bolts design on the other. The blade has the HW Proof on one side and Wilkinson Pall Mall London on the other. Steel 3 bar pattern hilt with Black leather scabbard both have dark patina. Fish skin grip with brass wire in excellent condition.
This sword is a good example of Australian Colonial Military History and a sound investment. Other examples of these swords are fetching 2K plus.
