WW2 BRITISH HELMET NOTHING AFRICA CAMPAIGN 1942 WITH COVER
HISTORY
In 1942, the British Army fought a critical campaign in North Africa, marked by both a major defeat in the summer and a decisive victory at the Second Battle of El Alamein in the autumn. The year began with a retreat after the fall of Tobruk and a failed defence at the First Battle of El Alamein in July. However, under the new command of General Bernard Montgomery, the British Eighth Army achieved a pivotal victory from October 23 to November 4, 1942, at the Second Battle of El Alamein, which stopped the Axis advance and started a decisive Allied counter-offensive. Additionally, in November, the British Army participated in Operation Torch, which involved landing troops in Morocco and Algeria alongside American forces.
