WW1 BRITISH/AUSTRALIAN "TOMMY" HELMET
On todays market WW1 British/Australian Tommy helmets are increasingly hard to find. They were also made in the US and used by the American Army during WW1and these are often sold as British/Australian helmets and the only way to tell the difference is by the chinstrap bale rivets. The US made helmets use stamped bale rivets and the British/Australian made helmets used split rivets.
This example was a local find here in WA and has the correct split rivets confirming it as a British/Australian issue. The helmet still has its original liner, rubber donut ring and chinstrap. The liner shows signs of heavy use due to its age of over 100 years old.
