The MK.3B is a variant of the MK.2A helmet with the same avionics system but fitted with the MK.2 Anti-Glare visor (centre rail mounting) used on the MK.1A flying helmet. It was intended for use in fixed wing aircraft without ejector seats but provided with oxygen equipment (for masks type 'P' & 'Q' plus a modified version on the 'H'). The moulded glass fibre resinate shell is finished in Green. The internal padding is in beige leather with a green edging. The shell is good order bar yellowing, the usual minor stress cracks, small scrapes and scratches showing use (nothing serious). Internally the helmet is good. Remarkably, the neck padding appears to be undamaged with good foam rubber backing. Retains excellent gel filled ear capusles. Fitted with a standard short pigtail loom and NATO plug 10H/18575. Considerably rarer than the later 3C. It comes with its original case. A really nice example and a super display piece.
