ORIGINAL WW2 GERMAN PARATROOPERS (FALLSHIRMJAGER) HELMET SHELL WINTER CAMO
Offered is an opportunity to own an original WW2 German paratroopers helmet albeit a shell only. As we all know, original WW2 German paratroopers helmets can fetch up to 10K but are in complete condition with liner and chinstraps. For some unknown reason this helmet came to me without its liner and chinstrap. The helmet is the second pattern still with it original spanner bolts in place. The helmet has its original winter camo finish (white) which was used on the Russian front and is considered rare.
Whilst there are numerous copy German paratroopers helmets on the market they are cheaply made, have no authenticity and do not have the following features that identify an original helmet, they are:
- The rolled edge of the helmet has identifying crimp line that runs all the way around the rolled edge which the copies do not have.
- The makers stamping of ET68 is nicely stamped in a block with the numbers and letters in a line with the copies showing gaps and uneven heights of the letters and numbers.
- The batch number which is located at the rear skirt is present.
- The original untouched Green colour of the helmet is present on the inside of the helmet showing signs of wear and age.
- The White camo finish which was used in the Russian front displays wear and use commensurate with the helmets use and age.
This helmet shell in its Russian front camo is well priced as consideration has been taken into account that it is missing its liner and chin straps. There are replacements available but most are incorrect and look too new. There is a company in the UK called warhats.com that does sell aged liners and chinstraps that look identical to the original and almost impossible to tell but I wil leave that up to the buyer to decide where he wants to go with this.
