GERMAN PRE WW2 PERIOD BERLIN POLICE SHAKO
This Police Shako dates from the 1930's and was issued to the Berlin Police. When the Nazi party gained power in Germany the front plate was changed to display the eagle and swastika. All Berlin Police Shako's before WW2 were in Black and displayed the Berlin Bear on the front plate. The cockade to the front is stamped DRGM which also confirms its period. The inside of the liner is also issue stamped to Berlin.
The pre WW2 period Police Shako's are actually rarer than the WW2 period ones. This example is in good condition for its 90 odd years of age.Prices of these shakos in Europe are fetching over 1,000 euros.
