    HISTORY

The 4th SS Panzergrenadier Regiment "Der Führer" was an elite Waffen-SS infantry regiment formed in 1938 from primarily Austrian recruits. It served as a core component of the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich, fighting in the Western campaigns, the bitter battles of the Eastern Front, Normandy, and the infamous June 1944 massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane.
