The
WW2 German War Merit Cross First Class without Swords (Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse ohne Schwerter) was a Nazi German decoration for exceptional non-combat service or merit in furthering the war effort, awarded to military and civilians for achievements beyond normal duty, like industrial, economic, or political contributions, unlike the "with swords" version for bravery near the front, with recipients needing lower grades first and wearing a special ribbon.
