    The Narvik Shield (Narvikschild) was introduced by Adolf Hitler on 19 August 1940 to decorate all military personnel who participated in the strategic and fierce battles for the ice-free port of Narvik, Norway, between 9 April and 8 June 1940. This was the first officiall Sleeve Shield issued by Nazi Germany

    A total of 8,577 shields were awarded across the three branches of the Wehrmacht, making this a rare sleeve shield.

    The shields were stamped from sheet metal (originally iron, later primarily zinc or Cupal) and attached to a cloth backing that matched the color of the recipient's military uniform. It was worn strictly on the upper left sleeve

    Unused zinc example with a Army Green cloth backing. Wax paper backing still present. As stated this is amongst the rarer of shields.
