WW2 GERMAN SS POSTCARD SHELLENBURG TO HIMMLER

    History

Walter Friedrich Schellenberg was a German SS functionary during the Nazi era. He rose through the ranks of the SS, becoming one of the highest ranking men in the Sicherheitsdienst and eventually assumed the position as head of foreign intelligence for Nazi Germany following the abolition of the Abwehr in 1944.

Heinrich Himmler was Reichsführer of the Schutzstaffel, and a leading member of the Nazi Party of Germany. Himmler was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and a main architect of the Holocaust. As a member of a reserve battalion during World War I, Himmler did not see active service.

    Item description

Dated Jan 11 1942 this postcard (along with another I picked up in a collection) is from Shellenberg to SS Leader Heinrich Himmler and adressed to SS HQ in Berlin. I have had the text translated roughly and it reads.

    "Dear Reichsführer
Victory is ours. Our flag goes up, forward to the East.
The victory belongs to us exactly as our Leader Adolf Hitler has already arranged it".

Rarely seen correspondence between SS Leaders.
