WW2 GERMAN REICHSBAHN (RAILWAY) PRESENTATION PLAQUE

    HISTORY

The Deutsche Reichsbahn, also known as the German National Railway, the German State Railway, German Reich Railway, and the German Imperial Railway, was the German national railway system created after the end of World War 1 from the regional railways of the individual states of the German Empire. The Deutsche Reichsbahn has been described as "the largest enterprise in the capitalist world in the years between 1920 and 1932", nevertheless its importance "arises primarily from the fact that the Reichsbahn was at the center of events in a period of great turmoil in German history". In WW2 the German Railway system played one of the most essential and important parts of the German military logistics system.

    ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is the first time that I have come across this type of presentation plaque. It is made of ceramic material. Awarded to Albert Stocker in 1942 by the German Reichsbahn for 25 years service since 1917. The plaque displays the national eagle flanked by diesel and electric trains of the day over a centralised Steam Locomotive. This item would appeal to both the WW2 military and the Railway collector.
