COLLECTION OF PERSONAL ITEMS THAT BELONGED TO WW2 GERMAN SS COLONEL OTTO SKORZENY.

I have had this collection for about 6 years and now it is time to sell them.

I purchased the items from Gordon Broad who was a musician and became good friends with Otto Skorzeny whilst he was living in Northern Ireland after WW2. Gordon was a close friend with Otto Skorzeny who gave him some personal items and photos during the friendship. After Otto Skorzeny died Gordon corresponded with his daughter and still does as far as I know.

I will list the items below which are numerous and will keep updating this listing with images and text as I come across more items.

CERAMIC MARKOMANNIA BEER STEIN. Otto Skorzeny joined a fencing fraternity called Markomannia during his university years and it was during this time that Skorzeny received his famous duelling scars on his face. Markomannia had fraternities in many universities throughout Austria where Skorzeny attended Uni. This stein was more than likely given to him by one of the Markomannia fraternities.

TABLE CIGARETTE CASE. This cigarette case comes with a printed copy of a photo which shows Skorzeny leaning over a coffee table that shows the cigarette case on it.

POCKET CIGARETTE CASE. This case was used by Skorzeny during his war years and shows signs of heavy wear and use.

S SHAPED TIE CLIP. A tie clip in the shape of an S

PENCIL. A pencil used by Skorzeny.

HAND MADE METAL OAK LEAF WITH SS RUNES. On the back of this Oak Leaf is stamped "WENN ALLE UNTREUWERDEN (When all words are untrue) STABSWACHE & STOSTRUPPE OTTO SKORZENY ALARIC 12. 9. 43. This Oak Leaf was made by Skorzenys troops  and the wording on the back relates to the rescue of Mussolini on the 12 of September 1943. Skorzenys troops had left for the drop onto Gran Sasso to rescue Mussolini when the allied radio announced that Mussolini had been handed over to the allies and an Italian battleship had brought him to North Africa. Skorzeny could not get his breath but remembered where the Italian  capital ships were stationed and figured out it could not be done in time. Skorzeny continued with rescue realizing that the announcement was a hoax. The name of the operation to rescue Mussolinii was ALARIC.

PAPER BACK BOOK COMMANDO EXTRAORDINARY - This book is dedicated to Gordon and signed on the first page by Otto Skorzenys daughter and dated 2002

HARD BACK BOOK COMMANDO EXTRAORDINARY - This book has a signature on the first page, I am unsure who's signature this is.

SS CUFF TITLE OTTO SKORZENY - These cuff titles are not original and were handed out at Skozeny's funeral. Gordon did not attend the funeral however he was sent a cufftitle.

3 ORIGINAL PHOTOS OF SKOZENY - One photo shows Skorzeny meeting a delegation post WW2 another shows Skorzeny in the 60's sitting down smoking at his Irish farmhouse. The last photo is of Skorzeny during WW2 wearing his Knights Cross.

2 ORIGINAL PHOTOS of Otto Skorzeny's Manor House at St Martins Town Ireland.

These are the main items that Skorzeny gave Gordon Broad however there is a large quantity of correspondence between Otto Skorzenys daughter and research material that I have not photographed or listed.

Whilst with the exception of the Trench Art made Oak leaf there is not a lot of combat related material however it is undisputable that these items did belong to Otto Skorzeny and that their source credible.
