AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND WW2 COMMANDO KNUCKLE-GUARD FIGHTING KNIFE.
In WW2 due to the shortage of fighting knives for the Pacific theater New Zealand produced fighting knives for sale and use to US Forces and the Australian/New Zealand Armies. New Zealand had a couple of firms making fighting knives such as The New Zealand Cutlers, Sheffield Cutlers Co Ltd which were both owned by Edward Goddard who moved to New Zealand from Sheffield England in 1927 to produce cutlery. Some WW2 fighting knives were stamped with N.Z. CUTLERS AUCKLAND or TUI (NZ songbird) REGD or AKE (Maori for forever) or bore no stampings at all (sterile).
The knife offered today is a double edged spear point version that has no makers markings (sterile). It is the knuckle-Guard variation and comes with its original scabbard.
