WW2 GERMAN THIRD REICH POSTAL ENVELOPE FROM JAPAN TO GERMANY

Before and during WW2 Germany had an alliance with Japan and had signed the Tri-Parte agreement with Japan making them partners in an alliance.

This postal envelope is rare in that it shows that Germany had military advisors and political staff in Japan and vice-versa. The envelope is from the Kawana Hotel in IZU Japan. “The 140-room resort was built in 1936 by wealthy industrialist Baron Kishichiro Okura as a showcase that would cater to foreigners. Its commanding view of the Pacific and two gigantic seaside golf courses has made it a magnet for the wealthy and elite ever since. In 1958, John Wayne made his home there during the filming of The Barbarian and the Geisha, and Prime Minister Hashimoto held a summit meeting there with Russia’s Boris Yeltsin in 1998.

The envelope was posted to Germany via Liberia and bears a  Wermacht stamp to the reverse.

A very interesting ww2 German postal envelope.
