WW2 GERMAN SS CAMO SMOCK
I have done some research on SS Camo smocks to help me identify this one. It is a Model 1942 Type 1. Made from Cotton Duck material. It is reversible with a blurred edge pattern to one side and an Autumn pattern to the other. The pockets are made from a green Herringbone twill. It has an elasticated waist but no elasticated cuffs, they have either been removed or this jacket was made without them. There are a few field repairs to the jacket as shown in the images. Foliage loops have been removed but you can see where they have been removed.
I have had a look on the internet to discover that these smocks in Europe and the US are commanding thousands of Euro,s and US dollars, while this example is not perfect it certainly is well priced.
