Swiss m1914 Sawback Pioneer Sword Bayonet marked H.S. with Scabbard.Bayonets marked H.S. or H.S.W. or Faschinenmesser are rarer then bayonets produced by other manufacturers.Swiss records do not indicate what the HS stands for. Some speculate Hans Steiner in Wasen im Emmental, or Hrster & Sohne, or others. But n o one that I can find knows for sure.The Small Cross bellow the HS mark is the Swiss Army inspector's mark.Used with the Schmidt-Rubin m1911 carbine. Issued to select troops such as engineers, blacksmith non-coms, horse transport soldiers, and drivers of motorized artillery. Bayonet is almost perfect. Perfect original finish on handle wood.No dings or chips in saw teeth. Nice bright blade. Original frog.
