    On 16 May 1933 the Silesian Eagle was recognized as an official award, authorized to be worn and manufactured throughout the entire period of the Third Reich. The Silesian eagle was instituted 16 June 1919 by the commander of the VI Armby Corps, Generalleutnant von Friedeburg.

    This is a first Class Silesian Medal, made of a Tombak. Three piece construction (higher quality private purchase type). The black Silesian Eagle has intact black enamel. The half-moon and cross, and the “Für Schlesien” (For Silesia). The reverse of the badge has the screw disc fitting for attaching to a uniform. The badge is in very good condition showing signs of age and use commensurate with its age, no chips to the enamelling.
