WW1 IMPERIAL GERMAN 'IN SERVICE OF THE CROWN' LAPEL BADGE, 800 SILVER

This is the first time that I have come across this Imperial German lapel badge/award. The badge has two cherubs flanking a shield surmounted by a Crown. There is a Ribbon in bow construction at the top. The shield is professionally engraved with the words in German "Dem Derdienste Die Krone" or in English 'In Service of The Crown". It is hall marked 800 on the back to indicate 800 Silver.

This is a rarity for the Imperial German Collector, as stated I have not seen one before and can assume that it has been awarded to a high ranking Civil servant such as a diplomat or perhaps to a female due to the bow tied ribbon. If anybody out there can add to this let me know.
